Chennai Corpn demolishes encroachments in Trust Puram

An official at the spot said that the eviction drive was conducted following several complaints from residents about the encroachments on Puliyur Main Road in Trust Puram.

“We have informed the shop owners about the eviction drive a few days ago and asked them to remove encroachments. Some of them budged and we are removing shops, which functioned even after the notice,” the official said. According to him, 50 owners had extended their shops on to the pavement on Puliyur Main Road from the junction of Sixth Street to Vanniyar Street. During the demolition drive, civic workers demolished only the encroached portions of the shops.
