Gold worth Rs 69L seized at airport
Customs officials seized gold worth Rs 69.5 lakh and arrested two passengers at Chennai airport on Saturday.

Passengers who arrived from Dubai on Saturday morning were subjected to routine check when officials intercepted Adnan (36) from Kozhikode and Shibu Rahman (25) from Mahabalipuram on the suspicion of carrying gold. Since they were evasive in their replies, a personal search was carried out leading to gold in rubbery form found concealed in their underwear. On extraction, 1.95 kg gold valued at Rs. 65.5 lakh were recovered from both. They have been arrested. In another incident, officials were checking passengers who arrived from Colombo on Friday night. On suspicion, women officials took Seethaletchumy (63) from Colombo to a separate room and a search found her carrying gold inside the rectum. The gold weighing 131 grams worth Rs 4 lakh was seized. She has been detained for further injury.
