Draft poll station list to be out on June 10: Corpn
With the dates for local body elections expected to be announced in August, the Greater Chennai Corporation has prepared a draft polling station list. The list will be released on June 10 and the voters have been invited to share their objections and suggestions.

The draft polling booth list has 5,720 polling stations in 200 wards. Of the total polling stations planned, 78 will each will be reserved for men and women.
“The draft polling station list will be put out on June 10 at ward offices, zonal offices and Ripon Buildings,” a Chennai Corporation press release said.
Meanwhile, an official said that the public could register their suggestions and objections, which would be considered while preparing the final list of polling stations. The civic body has arranged for a meeting with the representatives of registered parties on June 11 to collect their views on the list.
A revenue department official said that the locations of polling stations have been rearranged as ward boundaries were changed during the delimitation drive. “As of now, there are around 59 lakh voters in the Chennai Corporation limits. But, the number may vary as we continue to receive applications pertaining to addition and deletion of names and change of address,” he said.
During the Lok Sabha election held in May, the civic body had set up as many as 3,754 polling stations in Chennai district, which comprisesseven zones.
