A police team led by A Arun, Additional Commissioner Police (Traffic), held a meeting with managers of Swiggy, Zomato, Uber Eats and Dunzo on Tuesday, and told them about the need for their delivery agents sticking to traffic rules.
The senior executives from these food delivery companies assured the police that they would take strict action against errant employees, including dismissal, who continue to violate traffic rules while on duty.
Besides taking disciplinary action against habitual offenders, they have also promised to bring about more awareness on traffic regulations among the delivery agents.
During the interaction, it was also decided to create a WhatsApp group, with traffic police officers and managers of food delivery apps, for constant interaction and further follow up. “Photographs of those delivery staff who violate traffic regulations will be uploaded in the group so that the managers of these firms can identify such offenders and take disciplinary action,” noted a press release from the city traffic police.
The process would be on till the delivery agents stick to the traffic rules, the press release added.
