The police said that the male infant was found near a check post on the border. “The bag, which was hidden inside bushes, was dragged out on to the road by stray dogs and that’s when a group of transpersons saw the newborn,” a police official said.

They took the baby out of the bag and informed the Uthukottai police who immediately came to the spot and took custody of the child. The police later took the infant to Uthukottai Government Hospital where he was given first aid. The baby was then handed over to the Tiruvallur district Child Welfare Officer Senthil Kumar.

The police have registered a case and are inquiring if there are any missing complaints filed in the surrounding areas. The police added that the umbilical cord of the baby was intact and so he must be not more than two days old. The police are also scanning the hospital records from the area to identify the parents.
