57 officers to pass out of QFIC on June 7

The 57 officers included 46 from the Indian Air Force, 2 from Indian Army, 6 from Indian Navy, 1 from Indian Cost Guard and 2 foreign officers from Myanmar Air Force. The QFIC course began on December 24, 2018.

It comprised academics and flying training with tests and exams at regular intervals. “The focus during ground training is interfacing theoretical knowledge with practical aspects of aircraft systems and piloting,” a defence release said.

The use of multimedia and IT resources as teaching aid was given high priority. The valedictory function would be presided by Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Headquarters Central Air Command.

It would also mark the culmination of efforts towards development of human resources in the field of flying training. Graduates of the course were awarded the coveted symbol of ‘Qualified Flying Instructor’, which they would proudly wear on their uniform thereafter, signifying their elevated status and recognition as instructors.

The pilots who achieve distinction in flying and ground subjects would be given various trophies and awards. The role of Flying Instructors School (FIS) was to train operational pilots of Defence Services, Paramilitary Forces and friendly foreign countries.
