    Gold, cash burgled from SI’s house

    As much as 25 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 50,000 in cash were burgled from a sub-inspector’s house in Mylapore police quarters on Saturday night.

    The police said that the victim, Vasu, a sub-inspector in the communal intelligence division, was a resident of police quarters located on RK Salai.


    While Vasu’s family members had gone to his hometown near Vellore for summer vacation, the sub-inspector left the house for duty on Saturday morning, said police.


    When he returned home in the night, he found the front door of the house was broken open and materials that were inside a cupboard strewn around. When checked, he found that Rs 50,000 in cash and 25 sovereigns of jewels were missing from the cupboard.


    Based on his complaint, the Mylapore police registered a case and further investigation is on.
