The deceased, Mousika Sri, a pre-KG girl, was the daughter of Sathyaraj (39), a private firm employee, and Malar (28), homemaker. The incident happened when Malar was feeding dinner to Mousika Sri, sitting near the terrace. When Mousika Sri’s grandfather went down for some work, the child reportedly tried to peek through a small gate on the parapet wall in the terrace. The gate opened unexpectedly, and she fell from a height of 40 feet.
Following the mishap, Malar and others rushed to the ground floor and took the girl child to a nearby private hospital with the help of neighbours. From there, she was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where she died without responding to treatment, on Saturday.
Kodungaiyur police have registered a case and further investigation is on. “There is nothing suspicious in the incident and it was indeed an unfortunate accident,” said the investigation officer. The couple has an elder son.
