The deceased was identified as Narayanan from Jayamkondan in Ariyalur, who has murder and robbery cases against him. Police said Narayanan died of ‘cardiac arrest’ and denied any foul play.
As they were patrolling along the GST Road at Guduvanchery on Thursday evening, the police found three men getting down from an autorickshaw and walking towards Adanur.
The policemen identified one of them as history-sheeter Narayanan and stopped all of them for questioning. They were taken to the Guduvanchery police station. Soon, the other two were identified as Durairaj (35) and Muruganantham (34) from Ariyalur, both facing robbery and theft cases.
Police said that they suspect that the group was planning a robbery at Adanur. “Around 8.30 pm while they were questioning him,
Narayanan became unconscious and was taken to a private hospital nearby. As the doctor there who checked him said Narayanan was perfectly fine, he was returned to the police station.
Around 11.30 pm, Narayanan fell unconscious again. He was taken to the same hospital, and from there he was referred to Chengalpattu government hospital. But after his condition became serious, Narayanan was rushed to a private hospital in Potheri. The doctors who checked Narayanan declared he was brought dead,” police said.
The police have registered a case under section 174 and the body was sent for post-mortem examination at Chengalpattu government hospital. Kancheepuram district police Superintendent Santosh Hadimani said Narayanan died after suffering from severe chest pain.
“When he was taken to the hospital at 8.30 pm, everything was normal. We even have the video proof,” said the SP, adding that the autopsy was done on Friday in the presence of the Judicial Magistrate and family members of the deceased.
