Youth kills mom travelling with her second husband

The accused was identified as Sampath (22), a daily wage worker. According to the police, Bhavani was married to Anbu nearly 24 years ago and the couple had three children. Two years ago, Anbu committed suicide after which Bhavani married her lover Raj Kumar (35), a construction worker from Somangalam.

After the marriage, her children were not willing to live with her and also asked her not to meet them again.

On Tuesday night, Bhavani’s elder son Sampath saw her travelling on a two-wheeler with Raj Kumar at Mannivakkam. Infuriated, Sampath took a knife from his house and chased them on his two-wheeler. The police said that the couple tried to escape from him but their two-wheeler skidded, and they fell down.

Sampath then attacked Bhavani with knife. Raj Kumar, who tried to save her, also suffered injuries. Passers-by overpowered Sampath and informed the police and the ambulance. The Mannivakkam police went to the spot and arrested Sampath. Bhavani and Raj Kumar were taken to the Chromepet Government Hospital where the doctors declared that Bhavani was brought dead.

Raj Kumar was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. After investigation, the police said that Sampath murdered his mother as he believed that his father committed suicide after he came to know about Bhavani’s affair. He was remanded in judicial custody.
