    DVAC books ITI training officer for forging experience certificates

    The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption has registered a case of corruption against an assistant training officer in ITI for allegedly issuing licences to ineligible candidates as electricians and electrical helper after receiving bribe.

    The First Information Report filed by the agency has accused R Rajasekar, now working in Industrial Training Institute, Chengalpattu, of committing malpractice and irregularities after taking illegal gratification when he was working as assistant training officer (wireman) at Ambattur ITI from 2013 to 2017.


    Rajasekar had helped some candidates to include forged experience certificate of a fictitious private company when they applied for license examination, the FIR said.


    “Applications for electrician and electric helper licence were issued from all government ITIs during October/November in the year 2015 based on instruction from the director, employment and training. Rajasekhar was a part of five-member application scrutinising team,” DVAC said.


    The accused official was neither a part of selection authority nor recommendation authority. The DVAC FIR said that at least three candidates approached Rajasekar, who demanded Rs 10,000 each for arranging experience certificate to be produced by them. On the request of two candidates, Rajasekar reduced the demand to Rs 6,500 and they together paid Rs 13,000. Rajasekar allegedly allowed ineligible candidates to be selected for electrical helper licence by taking undue pecuniary advantage knowing well that the certificates were falsely created, and forged documents and committed criminal misconduct by public servant, the FIR added.


    The accused had committed cognisable offence of cheating, creating false documents for the purpose of forgery, used forged documents as genuine, criminal breach trust and criminal misconduct by public servant punishable under various IPC Sections and the Prevention of Corruption Act, it said.
