Boy sexually abused on the Marina
The Marina police have launched a hunt for a ragpicker, who allegedly sexually assaulted a four-year-old boy on the Marina beach, said sources.

The incident took place on Monday night when the boy from Ambattur was sleeping on the sand with his parents. The police said the family has been staying at the Marina for a while and a ragpicker, identified as Arun, used to sleep next to them. After waking up on Tuesday morning, he complained of severe pain in his private parts after which his parents found that he suffered bleeding injuries. He was taken to the Stanley Medical College Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Based on the boy’s statement, the Marina police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for Arun.
In another incident on the Marina Beach, a 12-year-old boy was rescued from drowning in the sea by his father.
The victim, Hemanth Balaji of Madurai, had come to the beach along with his parents on Tuesday. He was suddenly dragged in by the waves and his Kannan rescued him. He was admitted to ICH, Egmore and remained unconscious.
