Teen attacks girlfriend, her mother over money for liquor

The accused, Santosh Kumar, a resident of Vinayagapuram in Puzhal, was in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl for more than three years. According the police, the girl works in a beauty parlour while the boy is unemployed. When she was returning from work along with her mother Kuppammal on Sunday, Santosh intercepted them and demanded money to buy alcohol. While Kuppammal denied to give him money, Santosh, who was in an inebriated state, followed them and persisted. As they did not pay heed to him, he assaulted them in full public view, the police said.

As passers-by alerted police, they secured Santosh Kumar for an inquiry. On Monday, he was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
