10 detained for interrogation for auto driver’s murder

On Tuesday, Saravanan (24) of Ayanavaram and ‘Vellai’ Prasath (24) of Kolathur surrendered in Ambattur magistrate court, while Ashok (21) and Sai Krishna (24) surrendered in Egmore.

Jebaseelan (48), a resident of Thikka Kulam in Ayanavaram, was hacked to death by a group of men in front of his family members on Sunday evening when he was about to leave for his daughter’s wedding reception in Minjur. Jebaseelan’s wife Priscilla who tried to safeguard her husband suffered injuries on her hand. While the gang fled, Jebaseelan died on the spot. Priscilla is undergoing treatment at Stanley GH.

Investigation revealed that Jebaseelan prevented an underage girl’s wedding in the neighbourhood two weeks ago and infuriated over this, the groom identified as Ramu alias Vinoth hatched a plan to kill him.

While four men have surrendered, the police have secured the main suspect Vinoth, kin Rahul, friend Mahesh and a woman among 10 others for interrogation.
