woman stabs husband’s second wife in Red Hills

The accused, Sura Katun (28), has two children with Mohammed Rashid whom she had married eight years ago. The family has been living in a rented house at Jothi Nagar in Padianallur. According to police, Mohammed Rashid recently married another woman, Surana Begum (21). Mohammed Rashid, who works at a meat shop, allegedly beat Sura Katun in front of Surana Begum often.

After he left for work on Sunday, an argument erupted between the two women. In the heat of the squabble, Sura Katun picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Surana Begum in her neck and left the spot. Hearing Surana’s cries for help, neighbours rushed her to a hospital. Sura Katun surrendered at the Red Hills police station.
