Airport Customs seizes gold worth Rs 69L
Gold worth an estimated Rs. 68.9 lakh was seized by Customs officials from five passengers in separate incidents at the city airport on Friday.

While checking passengers who arrived from Kuala Lumpur on Friday morning, the officials, on suspicion, intercepted Mohammed Rafi (23) from Chennai at the airport arrival hall and found him concealing three pieces of gold inside his rectum.
The gold, weighing about 313 grams and estimated to be worth Rs 10.29 lakh, was seized.
In a similar case, the Customs intercepted Muhammad Yasin Bin Mohd Ghani (33) from Kuala Lumpur and Farjana (26) from Chennai. Upon body-check, they were found to be hiding two cylindrical rods of gold, weighing about 618 grams worth Rs 20.30 lakh, inside the rectum.
In a third case, two female passengers, Arifa Roja (26) and Madheena (43), were called aside when they arrived from Colombo on Thursday. During body-check, the officials found them too hiding gold inside their rectum. The gold weighed about 238 grams and has an estimated worth of Rs 38.4 lakh. The gold was subsequently seized and the duo was detained for further inquiry.
