2 schoolkids drown in sea off Tiruvottiyur

The deceased have been identified as K Sanjay (13) and V Madhan (14) of Esanimoorthy Street in Tiruvottiyur. They were Class 6 and Class 7 students respectively in different schools in the locality.

As it is summer vacation, they went swimming to beat the heat in the sea on Saturday afternoon without informing their parents.

When they did not reach home till late evening, their parents lodged a complaint at the Tiruvottiyur police station.

Meanwhile, passers-by noticed a body on Tiruchanankuppam coast and informed the police on Sunday. Sanjay’s parents confirmed that it was their son.

Madhan’s body also washed ashore in Tiruvottiyur kuppam on Sunday afternoon. Their bodies were sent to Stanley Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police suspect that they could have been sucked into the sea by giant waves and as there was nobody in the locality, their parents did not know that they drowned. The Tiruvottiyur police have registered a case.
