Chennai central- Airport Metro services suffers technical glitch

According to CMRL sources, around 130 employees of CMRL staged a sit-in-protest in front of the Managing Director's office on April 29. The sit-in strike was due to the company’s decision to dismiss eight employees for allegedly supporting a letter written to the company by one Soundararajan, the State President of CITU (Centre of Indian Trade Unions) in November 2018.

The employees later called off their strike as the CMRL authorities promised to hold a tripartite talks on Tuesday. CMRL had however, denied the possibility of service disruption due to the protest.

Meanwhile, the train services were disrupted at few places due to signal malfunction. Hence the Chennai Central- Airport Metro services were temporarily suspended, wherein the Vannarapettai - Airport Metro services are operated as per schedule, sources said.

A CMRL spokesperson said since the off-duty employees are only on strike, the services will run uninterrupted.
