Man loses Rs 1.5L in gambling, puts club owner behind bars

The incident happened a few days ago when Balamurali Krishna of Pallipattu went to the recreational club in Korattur to try his luck in gambling. While gambling with others, he is said to have suffered a loss of Rs 1.5 lakh.

Dejected over the loss, Balamurali Krishna went to S Sheik Subhani (41) of Kolathur, owner of the club, and demanded his money back.

An argument erupted between them and Balamurali Krishna was allegedly attacked by Sheik Subhani’s henchmen. He was also allegedly robbed of another Rs 15,000 in his possession before being thrown out of the place.

Infuriated, Balamurali Krishna headed to the Korattur police station and informed the police personnel about the incident.

A team of police rushed to the spot and secured Sheik Subhani. He was booked under Sections 294 (b) - uttering obscene words, 323 - causing hurt, 392 - robbery and 506 (1) - criminal intimidation and remanded in judicial custody.
