7-month-old boy run over by lorry in Tiruvallur
In a tragic mishap, a seven-month-old child was run over by a mini-lorry while he was sleeping outside a brick kiln near Tiruvallur on Tuesday afternoon. The parents of the boy were working at the brick kiln when the mishap took place.

According to the police, Kamaraj (28) lived with his wife and son in Kalpattu village near Tiruvallur. A native of Tiruvallur, Kamaraj was working in a brick kiln near Kalpattu. On Tuesday afternoon, the couple had put the child to sleep outside their work place. A little while later, a mini-lorry entered the kiln to load bricks that were meant to be transported outside. “The driver of the lorry did not notice the infant lying on the roadside and ran the vehicle over him. The seven-month-old was killed on the spot,” said the police.
Driver of the mini-lorry, Manimaran (22) hailing from Villupuram abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot immediately after the incident. Following a complaint from Kamaraj, the Tiruvallur police tracked down Manimaran and later arrested him. He was remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is on.
It may be recalled that a one-and-a-half-year-old boy was killed after a tanker lorry hit him when he was playing near his house in Villivakkam inOctober, 2018.
