39 persons held for illegal sale of liquor
The police have arrested 39 persons, including 8 women, on Tuesday for illegally selling liquor bottles in Kancheepuram. Tasmac outlets in the State have been not operating since Tuesday in view on the election on Thursday.

The Police seized 1,213 liquor bottles from them. The accused were arrested from Maduranthagam, Cheiyur, Chengalpattu and Guduvanchery.
The police said that they had brought the bottles on Monday and were selling it for double the price. They were arrested for further inquiry. The police suspect that bar owners or Tasmac employees could also be behind this.
