Gold worth Rs 8 crore seized
The election officials seized gold jewels worth Rs 8 crore from a private delivery van on Monday. When the flying squad officials were checking vehicles on GST Road near Kathipara flyover on Monday morning, they intercepted a van belonging to a delivery agency and seized the gold jewels.

When inquired, the employee Senthil Aathipan said that the gold arrived at the Chennai airport cargo from Bengaluru and that they were supplying it to various shops in the city.
However, they could not produce valid documents to substantiate their claim after which the gold weighing about 25 kg was seized. It was handed over to the Alandur treasury.
