Man arrested for pinching woman riding with husband
A 26-year-old mechanic was detained by the police after he allegedly pinched the hip of a woman riding pillion with her husband at Labour statue signal on Kamarajar Salai on Thursday night.

Police identified the suspect as V Vignesh, a resident of Royapuram. According to police, the woman was travelling with her husband, a cloth merchant in Sowcarpet, to the Marina beach at around 10.30 pm on Thursday.
“Reportedly, Vignesh was following the couple on his bike for some time. While on the way he had even clicked a picture of the woman in his mobile phone. When the couple stopped traffic intersection at the Labour Statue, Vignesh also stopped his vehicle and pinched the woman on her hip,” police sources said.
This incident triggered a heated exchange of words between the couple and Vignesh. Egmore Assistant Commissioner who was passing through the way, stopped there and detained Vignesh, who was later handed over to the Anna Square police station for further action.
Police said that Vignesh has been arrested under sections of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
