Man dies of overdose of libido-boosting drug

The deceased person was identified as M Venkatramana of Purasaiwalkam. He had checked in at a lodge in Karpura street at around 5.10 am on Friday morning along with a 23-year-old woman, said to be a friend of his daughter. The woman is married with two children.

As the woman’s husband was differently abled, she was working as a construction labourer to financially support the family. She used to go for construction work along with Venkatramana, a mason. The two used to meet at the house of the woman, police said adding that Venkatraman decided to take the woman to a lodge in Periyamedu after her husband grew suspicious.

He usually picked her up from home and both went to work together. On Friday, he had booked a room in lodge in Karpura street claiming as husband and wife.

They checked in at 5.10 am. At around 6.30 am, the woman approached the reception claiming that the man who accompanied had collapsed in the bed. The man was sweating heavily before he fell on the bed unconscious.

Based on an alert, Periyamedu police team rushed to the scene and took him to GH where he was declared dead on arrival. Doctors at the hospital said that Venkatrmana suffered a cardiac arrest.

Police team that checked the room recovered a pack of libido enhancing tablets. Of the four tablets, he had consumed three, police said.

Medical reports indicated that he could have taken overdose of performance enhancing drug. Police have registered a case under CrPC section 174 (unnatural death).
