    Car of 2G scam suspect’s widow attacked

    Reha Banu, wife of 2G scam suspect Sadiq Batcha, who committed suicide at his house in Teynampet in 2011, has lodged a formal complaint at the Chennai City Police Commissioner’s office seeking action against unidentified men who allegedly hurled stones at her car on Thoraipakkam-Pallavaram Radial Road when his brother Aashique was driving her back home on Tuesday night.

    She claimed that the incident took place days after she has given a newspaper advertisement on her husband’s death anniversary.


    In her complaint, she said that the men attacked her car with sickles and stones. She was returning home with other family members after visiting a relative in Ashok Nagar when the incident happened.


    After the death of her husband, she had been trying to get back properties in his name and she received threats regarding this. It stopped after she lodged a complaint with the Nungambakkam police station.


    In her petition after the car attack, she has requested the police to track down the attackers and give protection for her and family members.


    Basha was the MD of Green House Promoters, which was sucked into the 2G case in 2017. He was also believed to be close to A Raja, the former Telecom Minister, who was accused in the 2G scam.
