The injured officer was identified as N Prakash, a native of Kancheepuram. He is currently attached to the Chintadripet police station. He saw the trio overtaking his bike and tried to stop them.
“On Sunday, he posted on night duty. He was supposed to patrol the area from 9 pm to 7 am. Around 3 am, he was heading towards the station and spotted three men riding triples on a motorbike on Arunachalam Nayagan Salai and chased them. He did not notice a speed breaker and fell down while chasing,” the police noted. He was riding the bike without wearing helmet and suffered bruises on his face, shoulders and hands, added sources.
Another policeman, who was on patrol duty in the same area, noticed the injured SI and took him in a travel agency car to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. A case has been registered by the Anna Sqaure traffic police and further investigation is on.
