    Man held for making hoax bomb threat to CM’s house

    A 32-year-old mentally challenged man was detained for making a hoax call to the police control room claiming that a bomb has been planted at the house of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Greenways Road in the wee hours of Monday.

    According to sources, the police control room in the city got a call from a mobile number around 5.30 am. The caller claimed that a bomb had been planted at the CM’s residence and disconnected the call. Soon, senior officers were informed and members of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) along with sniffer dogs carried out checks at the CM’s house on Greenways Road. This proved that the threat was a hoax, said the police.


    Meanwhile, the police officers traced the mobile number and found the caller was in Pallikaranai. A special team police along with the Pallikaranai police team identified that the caller’s house in Kovilambakkam. The police reached the house and found that K Sundarajan (23), a water can supplier, was in possession of themobile phone.


    During investigation, the police found that Sundarajan was mentally challenged. They have detained Sundarajan and made enquires with his father Lingeswaran, said sources in the city police.
