Crater in Thiruvottiyur road due to metro works

Chennai Metro is expanding its service from Vannarapettai to Thiruvottriyur VimCo Nagar. The process of laying girders and pillars are going on, in the Thiruvottriyur roads.

On 16th early morning, owing to weight of the pipes, an crater sized hole gave way under the pipes for depth of about five feet.

Since the incident happened in the wee hours, none was injured and a major accident was prevented. The Metro workers are now in the process of repairing the pipes and so the traffic is diverted via Ennore beach road from 2:00 am.

The regular commuters and public faced difficulty due to this sudden traffic diversion.
