    SRM grants Rs 5 cr for labs on Reseach Day

    SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) successfully organised the Research Day recently to encourage the early career researchers and undergraduate students of the SRMIST.

    This was a unique platform where the young students presented their idea in various research scientific domains including interdisciplinary research outcomes. Nearly, 2,500 students, research scholars and faculty members from 42 departments including engineering, basic sciences, humanities, medical and health sciences, submitted their abstracts, out of which 932 abstracts were selected after screening by the research committee.

    The Chief Guest at the event was Prof. Anurag Kumar, Director, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru delivered a Chief guest address emphasized on the need for research for the betterment of society at large. Dr. S. Guruprasad, Director General, DRDO, New Delhi was the guest of honour.

    The Founder Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar delivered the presidential address encouraged the young researchers to conduct research and benefit the research community.

    During his speech, he called on young researchers to contribute extensively to the academic and industrial research community. Chancellor has stressed on the importance of funded projects and explained the research contribution to faculty members in terms of various schemes in SRMIST to carry out research in cutting edge and forefront areas of research.

    So far, SRMIST has contributed over Rs. 100 crores as research start-up grants to faculty members. He also mentioned that SRM Institute of Science and Technology has attracted research faculty members with national and international experiences for every department to enhance the research potential of our students and helped nurture their enthusiasm to start research at B. Tech level.

    Chancellor has granted Rs. 5 Crores for setting up Fab-Lab for students to implement their research and development ideas under a single roof.

    The special address was delivered by President Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan. In his speech, he mentioned “I believe that young students if exposed to a research environment then their new ideas may lead us to new innovations and can contribute to technological developments in the country. I wish all the students a great success for their future”.
