The police have launched hunt based on a footage found in a CCTV camera on Kannagi Street in Taramani. The seven-minute video showed two men on a bike waiting on a deserted road. It seemed like they had already identified the house they were planning to break-in.

The pillion rider walked towards the closed door of a lorry owner’s house and opened the lock using the iron road. Nearly after three minutes, he came out after which the duo escaped on the bike.

When the owner of the returned, he found that nothing was missing from the house. Even though he tried to lodge a complaint with the Taramani police, the officers allegedly discouraged him saying there was no need to file a case as it was “just an attempt.”

However, the police said not every resident was as lucky as the lorry owner. Daytime burglaries are reported in Velachery, Tiruvanmiyur. They identify the houses where all inmates are away and carry out the burglary during the day.

They are also very quick and take only less than five minutes to burgle a house, said the police officers.
