Liquor smugglers nabbed at gunpoint

They were held following a chase as the duo refused to stop the vehicle despite the police personnel flagging them. They arrested persons were identified as Manikumar (32) from Thirukalukundram and Prathap (28) from Vairakimadam. The latter was driving the car, police said. More than 1,100 bottles of liquor that they were ferrying from the union territory were seized, police said. After the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) of Madurantakam received an information that liquor was being smuggled from Puducherry, police teams from Madurantakam and Acharapakkam began checking vehicles on GST Road. That was when the duo came there on a car. They went past the police without stopping, leading to a chase. Police finally intercepted the vehicle and nabbed the duo at gunpoint.
