S Srihitha, a Class 3 student from Kattupakkam, donated Rs 1.5 lakh recently to the Royapettah police range with which 30 CCTV cameras were installed in the locality. The Commissioner inaugurated the function of these cameras recently.
Royapettah Assistant Commissioner H Krishnamoorthy said that he met Srihitha’s father Sathyanarayana, who works as an administrative officer at a private college, a few months ago. He explained the latter about the third-eye project that aims to bring the entire city under CCTV surveillance.
Sathyanarayana went home and discussed this with his daughter Srihitha after which she expressed interest to donate her savings, Rs 1.5 lakh, which she had kept for her birthday celebrations.
A few days later, she along with her father bought 30 CCTV cameras with the money and donated it to the Royapettah police. While she was one of the guests at the inauguration ceremony, the Commissioner, who came to know about her benevolent nature, invited her to his office and greeted her with a book and chocolates.
