Ujgar Singh, the director and CEO of the firm under investigation, Ariya Nangai Biofuel and Power Private Limited, is cited as a suspect in the case registered by the CBI, Mumbai, under IPC sections for forgery for the purpose of cheating and using a forged document as genuine.
As per the compliant from P K Issar, an assistant director in the PMO, a fake letter dated 15 December 2017, was issued on a PMO letterhead under the signature of Debashish Mukherjee, joint secretary to the PM.
The letter was received at DRDO’s Pune office on 5 January, 2018 and on January 10 along with the letter from Ujagar Singh. The letter directed DRDO to test the biofuel from AriyaNangai Biofuel.
It is alleged in the complaint that the DRDO was also asked to conduct a field trial if possible and submit a report.
Ariya Nangai Biofuel has its corporate office on Ramasamy street in T Nagar and registered office at Vanagaram. The official from PMO said in his complaint that it was clear case of forgery, as no such letter was sent by joint secretary Mukherjee. Though the complaint was dated 17 April, 2018, the CBI head office approved it for investigation on 3 February, this year.
