Around 9 am, when they were passing by the Ambedkar statue, an unidentified four-wheeler rammed into the motorbike and sped away. Since the road was slippery after a drizzle, Kanagaraj lost control of the two-wheeler and skid on the road, said the police.Â
While the helmet he was wearing saved Kanagaraj’s life, Meena sustained head injuries and was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. The Pondy Bazaar Traffic Investigation police has registered a case and the hunt for the four-wheeler is under way with the help of CCTV footage retrieved from the locality.
