SRM holds national conference on traditional foods

At the conference lectures and presentations were given by emerging scientists and Industrial personalities focusing the nutraceuticals in traditional foods and safety aspects of food to render opportunity to improve the human health and reduce the health care costs and endorse economic growth in rural communities.

Also during the conference, a short documentary film on the importance of traditional food for the health aspects were shown to the attendees.

It implanted attention towards rising progression among Food Scientists and Technologists.

“It’s time that we should move back towards are original lifestyle. Being grounded again to our culture and food traditions is need of the hour, through which not just we can keep our culture and food traditions alive but also it is surely going to leave a positive impact on the health of our humans in long term” said Dr S Periyar Selvam, Associate Professor, Dept of Food Process Engineering, SRMIST.

He thanked the participants and personalities who came forward to share their perspectives and gave their contribution to make the world a healthy place to live.

Nutrizione’19 offered a great opportunity for leading experts and scientists from India to share their Research work and highlight current developments in the field and gave an opportunity for engendering the learning community and future entrepreneurs to enrich their knowledge on India’s tradition and functional food as well as to highlight the importance of food safety and health aspects.
