According to the officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), talks are underway with telecom operators to provide network. An official at CMRL said, “Currently, only these two networks have extended their coverage. We have requested other telecom operators to do the same. The connection will be provided soon.” Although connectivity is not a problem for these two networks, technical glitches exist along this route. The elevated corridor is not facing any problem.

“I have experienced interrupted services inside the train. The signal is weak inside the stations and keep fluctuating through out the journey. It is not reliable,” said a commuter, K Divya, who uses Airtel.

The officials claim that minor faults are being fixed with the assistance of the technical team.

Corridor one of the CMRL has 11 underground stations, including Saidapet Metro, Thousand Lights, Government Estate, Central Metro and High Court. While the Corridor two has eight underground stations, including Anna Nagar Tower, Kilpauk, Nehru Park, Egmore Metro, Tirumangalam and Shenoy Nagar.

The phase one comprises a total of 52 stations which will soon be equipped with WIFI connection inside the trains as well as at its premises.

Soon, digital boards displaying the upcoming station names and advertisement boards will be introduced. The ground work for phase two project has already commenced which will comprise of three corridors. The longest one will be from Madhavaram to Sholinganallur.
