The Directorate of School Education had begun uploading Class 11 and 12 answer sheets in the website from last year. Replicating it for Class 10 would benefit those seeking re-totalling and re-valuation.

In addition, students appearing for board exams can apply online for seeking re-totalling and revaluation through schools from this year. This facility is available even for private candidates through their respective examination centres.

A senior official from the Directorate of Examinations told DT Next that 80 lakh answer scripts of students from classes 11 and 12 would be scanned and hosted online this year.

“In addition, authorities are taking measures to host the Class 10 board exam answer sheets in the website,” he said. According to him, about 50 lakh sheets would be scanned this year.

This data would be stored in PDF format, enabling the students to take multiple copy if they have doubts in the evaluation process, said the official, adding that the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Education Services Corporation has been entrusted the task of scanning these documents.

Each answer sheet would be clipped and placed separately in a thick plastic cover, before scanning and converting the data into a PDF file, which would then be stored in a user-friendly web portal. Students can view their answer sheets on this website.

In addition, he added, the answer sheets of those who appeared for Diploma in Elementary Education will also be scanned. “There will be about 20,000 answer scripts,” the official said.

According to him, the entire work would be done at the Directorate of Government Examination premises. “More than 50 high-tech computers with scanners will be used exclusively for the work,” he said.

After the results are released in the second week of May, candidates will be given a week’s time to apply for the scanned copy, the official added.
