Job fraud: Cop surrenders after wife’s arrest, blames her
A day after ICF police arrested woman head constable, Annie Besant, for cheating 16 people of Rs 45 lakh on the pretext of getting them jobs in Secretariat, her absconding husband Murugan — who is also a head constable in Armed Reserve wing — surrendered at the police station on Thursday.

Murugan allegedly told police that it was his wife Annie Besant who received money from different people including a few police personnel to get government jobs through her ‘sources’ in the Secretariat, while Annie Besant on Wednesday had told police that Murugan was the main accused.
The couple has claimed that the entire sum received from victims were transferred to those in the Secretariat. When contacted, ICF crime inspector Kameshwari said that she has been inquiring Murugan and the action will be decided based on the output.
While Annie Besant was secured from the Secretariat in the middle of her duty on Wednesday afternoon, Murugan who was said to be absconding surrendered on Thursday.
