Flyer held for drunken brawl at city airport
Police arrested a 39-year-old man who quarrelled with the airline staff asking for boarding pass in an intoxicated condition at Chennai airport on Tuesday.

The accused, Jawahar of Kallakurichi, is working in Dammam in Saudi Arabia. He had come down on vacation and was returning to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. He had booked tickets on a Jet Airways flight to Mumbai. When he approached the airline counter, the staff refused to issue him the boarding pass because he was in an inebriated condition. Angry over this, Jawahar entered into an argument with the staff, and allegedly used abusive language. Following this, the CISF officers who were on duty caught Jawahar and handed him over to the Airport police. The airport police detained him for the whole night. Later on Wednesday morning, they registered a case against him and arrested Jawahar. He was later released on bail.
Man arrested for erecting banner
Mylapore police arrested a person for erecting an illegal banner at a Corporation park and damaging the compound wall, on Tuesday. According to a statement from the Corporation, he was identified as Stalin of Mylapore. Stalin and others had erected an advertisement banner on the compound wall of the roadside park near Santhome in Teynampet zone. When the field level officials visited the spot to remove the banner based on a complaint, the accused and others stopped the officials and intimidated them. “However, the officials removed the banner, which was erected illegally. Infuriated by this, the accused damaged the compound wall. We filed a police complaint and police arrested Stalin under four sections,” the officials said.
