Man cheats labourer of Rs 11k, held
A 42-year-old man was arrested for cheating a labourer of Rs 11,000 in the guise of helping him to deposit the cash in an ATM kiosk in Manali, on Friday.

P Balaraman (22), a construction labourer from Masudhi Street in Manali New Town, went to an ATM attached to the Indian Bank on Ponneri High Road to deposit Rs 11,000 on Tuesday. While he was waiting in the queue, a man volunteered to help him and asked him to bring a deposit challan from the adjoining bank. When Balaraman returned, he found the person missing.
After Balaraman lodged a complaint with the Manali New Town police, they identified the suspect with help of the CCTV camera at the ATM. Using the photo, he was secured on Friday. After preliminary investigation, the police said that he was identified as A Bhaskar (42) of Chinnamathur, a carpenter. He already has a cheating case pending against him, said the police. Bhaskar was remanded in judicial custody.
In a separate incident, the Royapettah police identified a two-wheeler thief. The bike belonging to P Supriya (40) of Jagadambal Colony that was parked in front of her house went missing on Friday. Based on her complaint, the Royapettah police combed the CCTV footage and identified the suspect. The victim, identified as B Ramesh (22) of Lloyds Road, was arrested by evening and the two-wheeler was recovered from him. The police noted that there are chain snatching cases pending against him.
