Pawsome pets: In fond remembrance of your pet
The passing of a pet can be heart-breaking, leaving a void inside of you that could possibly never be filled.
Chennai
However, the city offers creative, meaningful ways in which pet parents can continue to keep their beloved furry friend in their memories forever. Preserving a food/water bowl or leash forever might not be the only way this is possible; or by framing a picture of your pet. Here are a few options to choose from
Sketches and doodles Â
K Senthil Ram is one of the city’s first artists who offer to sketch a picture of your pet using a photograph as reference. If you believe your four-legged child has gone to doggie heaven, you could ask him to customize the sketch by adding a pair of wings and a halo around your pooch’s picture.
Donate to an animal shelterÂ
It would a thoughtful way of celebrating your pet’s life to donate money to feed all the deserving animals in a shelter, for a day. The Blue Cross of India also allows pet owners to place a slab inside the campus in memory of the cat/dog. Funding water bowl projects or donating food to animal dispensaries would count too.
Tombstone
The city’s only pet cemetery is located inside the burial ground next to City Centre. For a small sum, the groundkeeper helps you lay your pet to rest with an offering of flowers and milk (optional). Many pet owners have created beautiful tombstones with the name of their pet, a message and the date of birthÂ
and death.
Wood carvingsÂ
If you submit a photograph of your pet to a qualified wood carver or gift store, they could translate the picture onto wood so that the image lasts for a long time. It would add to the décor of your household too while serving as a keepsake.
