College student held with 1 kg of ganja at CMBT

A hunt has been launched for his friend from whom he purchased the contraband.The police said that the accused, N Najumon (21), a native of Ernakulam in Kerala, is pursuing second year B.Sc. in Cardiac Technology at a private college in Puducherry. Around 5.30 am on Wednesday, the police personnel patrolling at Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) found two men smoking inside an auto-rickshaw that was parked near the exit of the terminus. 

While the duo fled the spot after seeing the police, they found that the men were smoking ganja from the smell. Within an hour, the police noticed one of them moving in a suspicious manner in the terminus. He was secured for questioning and identified as Najumon. Though he claimed that he was searching for his friends, the police checked his bag and seized one kilogram of ganja. 

Najumon was taken to the CMBT police station for questioning where he admitted that he came to Chennai to buy the contraband. He planned to sell it to his friends at the college. A hunt has been launched for one Vicky, who sold him the ganja. The police said that Najumon reached Chennai around 4 am and met Vicky. In order to find the quality of the ganja, he was smoking a joint when they saw the police and escaped. 

He also reportedly told police that Vicky smuggles the contraband from Andhra Pradesh. This is the fourth time that he is buying ganja from Vicky. Najumon was remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police AK Viswanathan rewarded the Grade I constable Manimaran from CMBT police station for nabbing Najumon.
