TikTok videos on police land teen in prison
A 19-year-old teenager, S Ranjith Kumar from Pudur, recently uploaded two new videos on the popular Tik Tok mobile app, but he is now lodged in prison. The reason? The videos allegedly show the police in poor light and hence his arrest.

Kumar would frequently visit the Ashok Nagar police station to sweep the premises.
On Saturday, two of ‘Dio’ Ranjith’s videos on TikTok went viral. In one of them, Ranjith was seen entering the police station like an accused to the background score of gangster drama Vada Chennai.
In the second video, Ranjith was seen stepping out of the police station with a song from Nakul-starrer Masilamani playing in the background. The audio clipping also stated, “Though he is legally wrong, he is pure gold justice-wise.”
After the two songs were circulated on WhatsApp, Ashok Nagar police was instructed to secure him. Investigation revealed his true identity. “He was immediately secured and remanded after interrogation,” an officer said.
“Ranjith kumar made the video in innocence without realising that he had humiliated the force. But, he is not an accused and there are no cases pending against him, ” he added.
Another officer said that TikTok was just a platform to showcase acting talent. “It would have been harmless if he’d shared the videos with friends, but he posted them on a public platform. It sent a wrong message about police among public, so he was arrested,” he added.
The officer also said that they were duty-bound and had been instructed not to show mercy towards people who malign government or related institutions.
