Head constable hangs self at Nungambakkam

The deceased policeman, Veeravel, has been in the police force since 1997 and had been posted in Nungambakkam police station as head constable. He has been undergoing dialysis for the last few years due to kidney ailment. After his condition worsened on Wednesday, he took leave from work and stayed home at Nungambakkam police quarters.

After dinner, he went to his room and locked the room as usual. However, when he did not step out till 9 am on Thursday, his wife Meenambal, son Mageshwaran and daughter Subashini broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling. On information, the Nungambakkam police sent his body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
