1,200 kg of gutkha seized from godowns

The police on Tuesday seized over 1,200kg of gutkha from godowns in and around the city.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a private warehouse in Ramapuram and Ambattur and seized 900 kg of the contraband. Thenraj, Gopal, Abbas and Suriyaprakash were arrested. Similarly, another 300 kg of the banned substance was seized from a godown in Ayapakkam. Two separate cases have been registered. In another raid, the Pallavaram police arrested a 27-year-old drug peddler and seized 100g of ganja from him.
