Montfort brothers extend services to all strata of society

The congregation soon spread to all five continents and now, they exist in 31 countries doing yeomen service to humanity in the form of general, vocational and specialised education and they can be found in 15 provinces all over the world.

The activities of the brothers in India are as multifarious as the needs of the country. They have spread their services in the field of education to school, technical institutions, colleges, higher learning in educational and pedagogical research in special education and rehabilitation of the blind and deaf, in caring for the orphans and street children, in youth organisation, in the urban slums, remote villages and in the movement of civil rights and communal harmony striving towards justice and peace.

The brothers have organised themselves through well-balanced hierarchical structure which begins with the Superior General Rev Bro George Kalarakkal who is assisted by several Assistant Generals and Provincial Superiors for each province. ‘Hard work is the real wealth of a man’ and the brothers have dedicated and pledged their lives in meticulous hard work for the betterment of humanity.

They go through religious formation and pursue their educational degrees even up to the doctorate level. ‘Bloom where you are planted,’ is a famous proverb and the brothers have extended their services to all strata of the society. They embrace all men and women irrespective of caste, colour or creed into their embrace and meet their needs. The brothers, according to their needs, take the role of engineers, architects, photographers, vocation promoters, formators, agriculturalists, physicians, doctors, financers, lyricists, music composers, teachers or technicians.

They have demonstrated much skill and have constructed citadels of learning with effective conducive infrastructure. The brothers are very keen to keep themselves fit as the actively engage in playing games on a daily basis during their recreation time. This is also an important factor that many institutions have imbibed, producing several sports men and women in national and international levels. The senior brothers, even after their retirement, still continue their service by means of animating workshops, seminars and value-based training sessions.
