Anna Salai to get commercial hub
The investment for Phase 1 is estimated at Rs 600 crore.
Chennai
Imagine a state-of-the-art building on Anna Salai, with twin Petronas-like towers on two sides of the road with a walkway and maybe a selfie point and a café in the middle. This is the blueprint of what the State government envisioned for the near term for a state-of-the-art commerce hub spanning 2.4 million sq ft for Phase 1 on the bustling arterial road.
The investment for Phase 1 is estimated at Rs 600 crore. K Srinivasan, COO, Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Fund Management Corporation (TNIFMC) revealed this at a GIM conference. “To create that mega structure right in the middle of Mt Road, the existing Periyar building, opposite TN Housing Board headquarters and about 100 yards down the road, one more plot of land will be integrated with access to more than one Metro line and more than one station, with a covered walkway, convention centres, large corporate offices,” he said, noting, that such a move is to provide an ecosystem for investment bankers, fund houses and lawyers together and create a network effect and make it a fintech hub.
