The online facility for sharing documents related to road accident cases on CCTNS platform was developed by SCRB and has been extended to motor claims tribunal original petition courts, insurance companies, victims and other concerned stake holders since April 2017.

The circular further noted that the mobile numbers of victims are not being entered due to which they are not able to download documents online.

The issue was brought to the notice of the court with a sample of 100 road accidents cases in which the documents and mobile numbers have not been updated but claims have been submitted in the court by the insurance companies. This showed that the documents were given manually and not uploaded on CCTNS, DGP said.

The High Court has observed that some police officers are in league with some vested interests and are handing over hard copies of documents to a chosen few for them to capture the victims and film MCOPs. The court termed such practices as misconduct under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court further noted that any other further violation will be probed by CB-CID.

The DGP ordered all unit officers to make sure that prompt uploading of documents and entering mobile number of victims without any delay. DGP also asked the unit officers to make sure the charge sheets of road accident cases are filed faster.
