80 ‘intruders’ detained in 24 interceptions during two-day operation ‘Sea Vigil’
A total of 80 personnel, who were in the guise of ‘intruders and terrorists’ were detained in 24 interceptions by the end of the two-day coastal defence exercise, Sea Vigil, which was concluded on Wednesday.

Around 10,000 personnel belonged to Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, CISF, NSG, Fisheries, Light House, Intelligence agencies, Maritime Mercantile Department, Immigration, Customs, Forest, ONGC, Coastal security group, and local police took part in the largest defence exercise.
As part of the exercise, special control rooms were set up at the coastal districts and in headquarters of State Secretariat, CSG, Coast Guard and Navy. The security personnel were divided into two groups. One group was tasked to make an ingression from the sea to target the vital assets. While the other group was assigned to intercept them both at sea and on land. Further, the ICG, Navy and Customs have deployed ships, boats, Fast Interceptor Crafts, helicopters and hovercrafts during the exercise.At the end of the operation, 80 personnel of various attacking teams called ‘Red Force’ were apprehended. A total of 24 interceptions were made during the mock drill. Of which 13 were made by the CSG, 10 local police and one CISF.
The success of the exercise was attributed to the advanced planning and careful preparation, active participation of all the agencies and continuous effort in creating awareness among the fishermen, said a press release.
