Elderly woman, college student killed in separate road accidents
A 60-year-old woman and a college student were killed in separate accidents in the city on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Nineteen-year-old P Manikandan died on the spot and his 15-year-old friend was admitted at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital with grievous injuries after their bike rammed a median at Anna Main Road-Alagirisamy road junction at MGR Nagar on Monday night. Manikandan, a second-year college student of Choolaipallam, MGR Nagar and his friend Balaganesh is a Class 9 student.
The accident took place when the duo went to buy dinner at a nearby restaurant. The Guindy traffic investigation police have registered a case and further inquiry is under way.
In another accident, a 60-year-old woman was run over by a truck in front of her husband in Vanagaram on Monday. Sajitha, a resident of Kattupakkam, was on her way to a function with her husband Abdul Karim on a bike and when a tanker rammed the bike from behind in Vanagaram. The couple fell off the bike and the rear wheels of the truck ran over Sajitha. She died on the spot.
